Madison Rising brings great rock music back to the forefront of popular culture. With songs ranging from the guitar heavy opening track "Right To Bear," to the hauntingly epic sounds of "Honk If You Want Peace," to the beautiful violins of "Hallowed Ground," it is clear that this band is on a mission to not only make great music, but also send a message that American culture is alive and well.
Madison Rising promotes the principles of liberty, independence, smaller government and personal responsibility. All tracks were recorded at Water Studios in Hoboken and mixed by legendary music engineer Ron Saint Germain at Saint’s Place Studio in Kinnelon, NJ.
Lead Vocalist - Dave Bray: Dave's first recollection and connection to music came from seeing Gary Numan doing 'Cars' on 'Top of the Pops'. His love of music however, began while sitting with his mother and singing folk songs while she played the guitar. He would later join the church choir. After a few years, he finally found his home as a "front man" as he and his first band rehearsed for a high school talent show. Dave's dream was short lived. He had already enlisted in the US NAVY and would leave for basic not long after graduation.
A dedicated leader and patriot, Dave was a Recruit Chief Petty Officer in basic training, a Master at Arms in A-school, and was awarded the honor of Top Dog in Field Medical Service School. He would finally serve in the U.S. Navy as an 8404 FMF Corpsman for the 2nd Battalion / 2nd Marines stationed out of Camp Lejeune NC.
Dave's voice is most often described as a passionate but soft roar, controlled and melodic, teetering on the edge of detonation. A true showman, Dave puts his heart and soul into every performance and has been captivating audiences with his "blood, sweat and tears style" performances for years.
"It is my firm belief that without God there is no country...Madison Rising, for me, is truly a call back to service...a service that our country needs, in a war that our country doesn't even know exists." - Dave
Drummer - Sam Fishman: Sammy "Bones" Jones has been hitting the skins since third grade. He may seem innocent and well mannered but behind the drums he is a possessed man.
Madison Rising is the true calling for Sammy. He is a patriot, hard worker, and loyal friend/musician. Sammy is a graduate from the University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music and lives in NJ. Some of Sam's favorite bands include Mastodon, Deftones, and Porcupine Tree.
"Being the drummer for Madison Rising has been a higher calling. It's bigger than all of us. This is an opportunity to create music with a message that America needs to hear right now!" - Sam
Sammy is single. It's true.
Guitar - AJ Larsen:
AJ Larsen grew up in rural Pennsylvania after moving from NJ at the age of 5.At the age of 6 he got his first guitar and started taking lessons with Vince Delsol. Listening and playing music from bands like Metallica, Joe Satriani and Story of the Year he has crafted his own style and sound. He is a seasoned guitarist with 21 years experience, both on the road and in the studio."It's all about playing clean and in time" is the moto AJ lives by. Like most musicians, AJ got his start playing in local bands and soon found himself playing with Don't Panic (Masquerade Records) - sharing the stage with The Ataris, Trust Company, Jealousy Curve, and joining The Vans Warped Tour.
AJ plays Paul Reed Smith guitars and Mesa Boogie amps. He loves the guitar but also has in depth knowledge and passion for studio recording, both in playing in the studio as well as engineering/mixing. Larsen joined Madison Rising in the fall of 2013 and brought with him thick, rich tones along with the melodic attack the band wanted to complete their sound. His great attitude, strong guitar work, and funny guy persona are the perfect fit! When AJ isn't on the road you can find him in The Pocono's relaxing.
Bassist - Tom DiPietro:
Tom’s lifelong passion for and commitment to music was first developed in his elementary school years in Queens, NY where he became obsessed with acquiring rock albums from the local record store and scouring through mail-order musical catalogues.
At 8 years old, the bare-bones, punk oriented bass lines of Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt and the groove laden finger funk of 311 bassist P-nut had already solidified his appreciation for the bass guitar in rock music. His musical journey was further developed from a more academic standpoint when he moved to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and started to play the String Bass in the 5th grade performing in a multitude of orchestra, concert band and jazz band ensembles. In high school, Tom began playing the electric bass and formed his first rock band with future Madison Rising Guitarist AJ Larsen. During his college years and into his adult life, Tom continued playing in bands that ran the gamut from hard and heavy rock to funk and rhythm and blues.
Tom is a devout follower of music genres ranging from heavy metal through progressive rock. Tom is truly blessed to be a part of the Madison Rising family. His deep appreciation for the American dream was further cultivated when he spent years working as a support staffer for troubled youth in public schools. In the classroom, Tom helped youngsters to realize the wealth of opportunity that is waiting for responsible, hard working citizens in this country, and that education and positive moral values should be instilled in our youngsters in order to preserve the ideals of this great country for generations to come.
